Dear Church, The Lenten season begins today with the sung words of the Kyrie: Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy. Our modern melody belies a great history, as this phrase has been sung antiphonally in the Church longer than almost all other phrases. Its message is evergreen, reminding us that though death is near, God's mercy carries through. Come and worship together this Ash Wednesday as God gathers us around Word, Sacrament, and a dusty ashen sign of new life arising beyond the many endings we know all too well. The liturgy begins in silence at 7pm.
